Judging for SheJumps.org at The 11th Annual SLUG Games Night Riders Rail Jam Comp!

On January 8th, I helped out with The Night Riders Rail Jam at Park City Mountain Resort on behalf of SheJumps.org, my new sponsor! It was cold and got colder since it was a night competition. It was also a bit difficult to judge since it was jam format and multiple riders were dropping in at the same time. We set up a booth with SheJumps to get the word out. We also gave away a giant pogo stick at the end of the night. Slug magazine and City Weekly were there interviewing and taking photos. Can't wait to judge the next Slug Games on March 5th at Brighton Ski Resort. Thanks Shejumps and SLUG!

First splitboarding tour this year up God's Lawnmower!

The only death you die is the one you die daily by not living. Dream big and dare to fail.
-Norman Vaughan

One of the things I enjoy most about being in the mountains and esspecially the backcountry, is the sense of freedom and serenity I feel when I am surrounded by such beautiful encompassing nature. Having the ability to snowboard at Snowbird everyday allows me to feel overwhelming gratitude, and being able to hike up Kessler's peak and get fresh tracks down was just the frosting on the cake!

We started our accent at 10:15am and got back to the car at approximately 4:15pm. The 4 hour hike up on the splitboard I borrowed was a bit tough. The splitboard was about 15cm longer than I'm used to. However, it was a blue bird day, low avalanche danger and great company. Plus the decent was packed with my style of adventure... sliding down about a 50 degree pitch rock face with my snowboard in one hand and hanging on to a tree to stop my self from falling with the other hand. There were also some concerns about Sander and Andrew making it back to the car, they got a bit lost and were about 45 minutes behind. I switched into worry mode for them, but all turned out ok as they are avid backcountry skiers and wouldn't have been able to live down the fact that they got lost at the bottom of the hill. Sander did end of missing his plane back to Seattle, and I was late for work thinking we may need to send out a search party for them! But alas, they found their way.

So happy I finally have a new avalung, beacon, shovel, and probe! Now I just need to get my own splitboard and skins, so I'm not riding on board made for someone twice my size! Here is a photo of the amazing Kessler's Peak.

120 inches of snow and my first injury, and it's only Thanksgiving!

The snow has been awesome since this last storm hit. 10 inches of snow in 24 hours, but also really cold. It was -23 with the wind chill at the top of Hidden Peak at Snowbird the other day! Let me say that again people...-23!!! That was brutal for sure! I got frostbite on the tip of my nose and got a little freaked out about that. I am such a wimp when it comes to being cold. As for jumping cliffs pre-season, I've already had my first injury as you can clearly see, my booty hurts these days!

Welcome to the 2010-2011 season

11 new inches in 24 hours. The snow was pretty dense so it was hard to tell exactly how deep it was. So awesome we are getting so much snow this early! Got to ride with a couple of The North Face Masters riders today. And I finally landed my 3's again. Yay!!!

Day 3 Pre-Season riding

Hiked up to the top of wildcat at Alta today for Day 3. It was a beautiful warm sunny day to snowboard down Alta. So nice to get out on some snow. A bit sun-baked, but I'll take what I can get pre-season. Think I'll go do a dance for the snow gods now.

Fundraising for StandStrongAgain.org

So last season, me and a bunch of friends decided to work with StandStrongAgain.org and the Nickerson Foundation to raise money for injured skiiers and snowboarders with no insurance. It all started when our friend Skylar Bourne broke his back and didn't have insurance to rely on. So what do a bunch of snowboarders know how to do best? Throw parties. So we had a couple huge fundraisers including the Naughty Nurse Party, The Pirate Party and Santa's Little Helper Party in Park City, UT. Skylar was able to get the medical attention he needed and we were able to give back to our fellow snowboard community. And for including Revolution Manufacturing Snowboard Factory in Orem, UT I got to desigen my first custom board! It was such an honor to design it and even better to get a free snowboard. I love my sponsors!! Thanks Rev!
